A Christmas/New years hope.

During this season celebrating the birth of the prince of peace, I wish for the end of governments and so called religious leaders invoking war in the name of god. I seek the overthrow of anyone calling for the killing of another human being as a false leader. I seek the money and material used in the pursuit of war to be used to solve mankind's problems. First to feed and cloth all the children of the world. Second to provide medicine and shelter to all mankind. Third to do away with nations and governments and allow everyone to go where they wish and live as they desire. I seek a world where everyone has a purpose and the opportunity to achieve that purpose. I seek a world where no one is put down as being less then anyone else. Where Men and woman are honored for being instead of used and abused because they dare to be different. this is my dream, if I can dream it, we can as men and women and children can make it come into being. I ask then dear Great Mystery/Creator that you give me the strength and wisdom to do my share in making my dream a reality. No more killing in the name of some vengeful god but instead mankind reminded we are all our brothers keepers and the caretakers of our mother the Earth.

To live is to be full of energy. To die is to be empty of energy. Science says you can not create or destroy energy only change it's state of being. Since life is being full of energy or animated, death in turn means that energy has changed state. It no longer animates a body just now is free of bodily constraints. Thought itself is also energy, when you no longer think that doesn't mean that the energy no longer exists, only that it has changed state. If life is a lesson to be learned or purpose to be served, then death is the end of that particular lesson or purpose. Life goes on, just not in that identifiable body.

Uncle Bob taught me of true prayer. It's so easy I don't know why
religions fail to teach it. Nor do I know why people still pray for
results they fear for instead of the results they desire.

Before you pray think about not what you wish to avoid but what you wish
to accomplish. Think about how you act with the desired outcome, see
your self as you enjoy what you envision happening. Make it as real as
you can. Put every emotion, every thing related in the accomplished
outcome. Then give thanks for this and let it go. Do not dwell on it,
nor the conditions that brought the problem. Just how you will feel when
you get the desired results.Make the picture as complete as possible
complete with the emotions and the celebrations accompanying what you
want to do or accomplish or obtain. Then let it go and don't worry about
it, you will accomplish what you envision without having to do anything
about it yourself, if you need money it will come, if you need help from
others it will come and if you need something you don't know about it
will come. Go ahead and pray and know someone or something does answer
prayers.

I like the slogan," Today is the first day of the rest of your life". However I like Uncle Bob's way of saying even more. He said he adapted this following being gassed in WWI and being bayoneted when he participated in the Vets. March on DC. "Remember every choise you face every day is a opportunity to start over in life." I think it's more accurate and try t remember it often. It ended up with him serving the Seneca people for over 30 year.

Wisdom

Sitting here now I just recalled the wisdom a dying man shared with me when I had been burnt less then a month before. I was stuck in a hospital bed in great pain and undergoing debrading which consisted in 1952 of scrubbing me in a tub of water with a wire brush to remove the dead tissue of the burn to help prevent gangrene. Believe me that is almost as painful as the initial burn.

He said "Son don't dwell on the pain or it will eat you. Don't dwell on poor me or you will never get well. Don't dwell on blaming others for your situation for then you will always look at others with fear. Instead ask God to ease your pain. Look at others as sharing your pain and problems and offer them hope and a smile. In doing so you will always be able to change the bad to good." That night I watched them pull the sheet over his face. I never knew his name or what killed him but remember his gasping for breath with every word. I guess that wisdom has stuck even today.

If you have trouble using meditation to access your internal connection to a higher wisdom I can help. I use something that can be used 24/7/365, it is called at least by the elders who taught me the power breath. You start by breathing in through your nose to a count of four. You hold your breath for a count of four. Then you exhale gently through your mouth for a count of twelve. Repeat the whole process three to eleven more times. Then just listen to your inner spirit.

From discussions I heard when Uncle Bob passed and they were looking for another Big Tree or peace chief, they thought of who was most respectful to the children and elders, who actually sought the advice of his mother, wife and sisters on important decisions and who showed in his actions that what he said and what he did were the same. Maybe we need to start using the same standards in choosing our leaders.

It is said when we walk on the Earth, we are walking on our ancestors and our unborn children. This is the relationship Native People have with the Earth. It is this relationship which gives insight into the Earth's rhythm and heartbeat and creates the feeling of belonging. If you feel you belong to something, you'll treat it with respect. If you feel you are above something, you'll treat it with disrespect. Indian Spirituality is tied to the Earth. We belong to the Earth along with all other creatures on the Earth. We must align to this realization.

Great Spirit, today, teach me to respect the Earth Mother.

Many of our Tribes still have the ceremonies, songs and traditions. Today, the ceremonies and songs are coming back even stronger. The Elders have a lot of this knowledge. The young people need to learn these songs and traditions from the Elders. This is the strength of the people. The ancient Wisdom and Knowledge of ancient Laws are hidden in the ceremonies and songs. We should seek out these songs and ceremonies.

Great Spirit, teach me the songs and ceremonies. Make my eyes open to see.

Christians

They came here to find religious freedom for themselves, but refused it for the people they found here.
They came here to find freedom to grow and prosper, but did so by stealing and killing the people who lived here.
They teach honor the mother and father yet abuse, starve and cast off their elders as useless dregs on society.
They say they honor life, but condemn many women and children to poverty, hunger and sickness.
They teach man shall not live by bread alone, but worship money.
They teach blessed are the peacemakers but worship war and killing of anyone who looks or believes differently or who has oil, gold or other resources they can steal.
Yet we who have been here from the beginning welcomed them, endured them and still hope to teach them something of value.

A child's view of thunderstorms...I loved it!

A little girl walked to and from school daily.

Though the weather that morning was questionable and clouds were forming,
she made her daily trek to school.

As the afternoon progressed, the winds whipped up, along with lightning.

The mother of the little girl felt concerned that her daughter

would be frightened as she walked home from school.
She also feared the electrical storm might harm her child.
Full of concern, the mother got into her car
and quickly drove along the route to her child's school.
As she did, she saw her little girl walking along.
At each flash of lightning, the child would stop, look up, and smile.
More lighting followed quickly and with each,
the little girl would look at the streak of light and smile.
When the mother drew up beside the child,
she lowered the window and called, "What are you doing?"
The child answered, "I am trying to look pretty
because God keeps taking my picture.."

The Medicine people focus on their Being, not their doing. After all, we are human beings not human doings. The Medicine people are very patient and consciously trying to live a life of humility. Medicine people are servant leaders. Their main purpose is to serve the needs of others. By this service attitude, they become the leaders people listen to and the leaders the people want to follow. The Medicine people say everyone is their teacher. Maybe we should try to live this way ourselves; humble, patient, honoring the Earth and listening to our teachers.

Grandfather, today, let me know all people are my teachers and I am the student.

Only by teaching the natural laws and living in harmony with nature may mankind grow and prosper. We don't need the gadgets, we need common sense. We don't need bigger more powerful cars, we need small local vehicles and convenient low cost ways to get from here to there. We don't need foods transported from half way around the world, we need to grow our food in the back yard, local empty lot or in pots on the fire escape. We don't need more wars for control of the oil and other resources, we need wiser use of and better ways of sharing what is needed. We don't need bigger box stores we need ways to make, bake, reconfigure or reuse things right at home.

My vision

Carry this message to all people every where. We are not supposed to be destroying Great Mystery/Creators Creation our Mother the Earth, we are supposed to be caretakers of her and of all our relations including each other. Together we can destroy this cancer upon the Earth caused by greed and mine. What is supposed to be thought of as mine is the connection of love for family, mates and children. What is supposed to be mine is the completion of each day in satisfaction that you have lived the day in harmony with each other and nature. What is supposed to be mine is the giveaway. Thus I now giveaway this to my brothers. Take up the warriors way. Protect the weak and sick. Defend the women and children. Care for the old and infirm. Feed your neighbor and make relatives of the stranger.

For the women I ask this. Heal the sick and allow those who are weak to lean on you. Give the joy of life and listen to and share the wisdom of the aged. Care for the men and children the old and infirm for they are weaker then you. Make and share your bread with all who's path you cross, for they are your neighbor and relative. Tend our mother the Earth and all her other children with reverence for that was our original purpose.

If I do nothing else let this my vision begin with each of you. It's not mine to carry out, just mine to share and watch grow.

Grandmother taught me very well. Look after the sick, take care of the poor and live your life as a opportunity to serve. Religion was never mentioned as her religion was a way of life and not a religion at all. She was available to deliver babies, treat illness, teach young people about life and offer prayers to Great Mystery on behalf of everyone in the community. She was a stern judge but fair, she spoke out against injustice, greed and indifference all the time.
She was a great role model and very traditional, unlike many religious leaders before and after her.

However you never say what you are for, because you seem to be for control of people instead of promoting what Jesus said. The giveaway, the helping of others without question and the accepting of people from other tribes and nations is all part of being Indian. More then a few were welcomed into the village of Kinzu while I was there. More then a few were supported by the community because they couldn't find work. Everyone had a voice in what went on and the women were the court.
Then we think we are civilized because of corrupt police forces, corrupt politicians and corrupt business practices designed only to take and never give. I for one prefer the uncivilized acceptance of every man and woman as valuable to this civilization controlled by the great god money.

It is traditional to give tobacco as a contract between you and a medicine person or elder you seek to help you. Let it now be said that giving of frogskins (money) after they have given of their service and wisdom is part of the tradition too. After all he or she has to live and eat and heat their home also. He or she gives something much more valuable then mere money when they submit themselves to service, so remember this when it comes time to give thanks to them.

A right time and a right action, however Indian time is also knowing when the right time is and acting then. Not delaying something beyond it's time or place. Affect is supposed to follow cause, so remember that the right time may not be this second but if you know something has to be done, follow with action as soon as you are able.

Feb. 3rd.

Doing right means among many things serving the people. It means putting others first rather then yourself. It means defending the right of the tribes to hold the lands in common and select their own way of governing themselves without outside interference. It means that the tribes have to unite and stand up to the outside governments who have decided that they have to live like the colonialist. The reason their were so many tribes was because each of them had a different history and shared only little with their neighbors. Now they need to come together and save their culture and their governments from the attacks from outside.

What ever you pray for in the right way shall be answered. Form a image using your heart, vision of what you desire already accomplished. See it, feel it hear it and smell it if possible as done and then let go of it so that Creator can take it and bring it into being. Don't keep dwelling on it or you prevent the powers from bringing it into being.
